Radio/Gospel/Media Background: Signed a record deal in 1986 as a rap artist and had a single release in 1987, started DJing around the same time playing Reggae, played for various sounds including Love TKO and later Lord Gelly’s, Ive played the world circuit both in the UK and abroad. I have presented various radio shows over the years both on ‘community’ radio as well as on the Sky network. Founded HMSS ‘His Majesty’s Sound System’ a pioneer Gospel Reggae Sound System and currently managing Divinity The Gospel Sound
What’s your show name and why?: The show is called Reggae Vibes. I inherited the name but it describes exactly what the show is about, I play various styles of reggae from roots to one drop to dancehall bringing to the world that Reggae Vibe communicating God’s Word.
What’s the USP for your show?: As a presenter I have a firm foundation in reggae music and a passion for Gospel reggae, I am a seasoned selector drawing for the best songs. With a personal connection to most of the Gospel reggae artists the show will be informative and current.
Likes: Yeshua, roast potatoes, my Strong’s concordance, my motorbike, Sound system culture.
What do you do when you’re not presenting (main job/role)?: I hire sound equipment from my company – sound2hire.co.uk. I also write and deliver courses to young people, trying to have a positive influence on their lives.
Dislikes: cheese, egos, car insurance prices.
Would most like to meet: Jesus, Paul the Apostle.
Would like to achieve: I would like to help get Gospel reggae artists into the main stream and get Gospel reggae music recognised and accessible to the masses.
Happiest when: I’m happiest when I’m in the sunshine playing my sound system outdoors.
Most embarrassing moment: Too many to mention but worst was when I crashed my motorbike during the WARM UP Laps at Brands Hatch after being lectured to take it easy, I managed to close the track for a bit, destroy my R1 and broke my chest and some ribs!
Cry when: I reflect on not being able to live with and raise my children.
Laugh when: I laugh at my own jokes sadly – lol!
Earliest childhood memory: Don’t really have any due to epilepsy and brain damage.
Would like to thank: God for never changing and Jesus for paying my debt, all the Gospel reggae artists for making music.
Favourite Gospel track: Mr Lynx – Life.
Technology you can’t live without, mobile, Facebook or iPod (or other): I use ‘Fiesty’book everyday so I’d really miss that but also my Pioneer CDJ 1000 CD decks.
Song you like but won’t tell your friends: The Bangles – Eternal Flame.
One thing you can’t live without (apart from Bible/Jesus): Friends.
Which 3 guests would you invite to dine with you and why?: Tenor Saw – I’d ask him to voice some dub plates.
Paul the Apostle – to crack open the Word and reason.
Richard Branson – to tell him some of my business ideas.
Secret phobia: centipedes!
Favourite Scripture: Isaiah 55:6
“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” This Scripture tells me not to take God’s presence for granted.
