Just a year after their last album, Mary Mary are back with a new set, sort of. To coincide with their reality TV series in the States, Go Get It comprises a couple of new tracks, some of their back catalogue and a re-make or two.
The new title track is the first lead off single and comes in usual Mary style, with pulsating groove and that chant come singing that is their trademark. The other new track, Sunday Morning, by comparison, has a more 60s Motown flavour, and is a real summery vibe.
Elsewhere, there are second outings for their duets with Destiny’s Child (Good to Me), and Kierra Kiki Sheard (God in Me) as well as their big smash, Shackles.
But perhaps it’s in the re-makes that there’s a gem worth finding. Originally from their album,The Sound, Dirt takes on a whole new feel, stripped down to a more acoustic soulful outing. If you liked Survive from their last album, then this will be right up your street.
