Jessica L. Hagan is an award-winning playwright born and raised in Marylebone, London and of Ghanaian origin. Originally a spoken word artist, Jessica uses poetry and performance to tackle real life issues in a powerful, provocative way. Her work predominantly focuses on conversations surrounding the black woman’s experience, identity and belonging as British-Ghanaian. Her most recent play called the Queens of Sheba is currently sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. She came to speak to Nage about the play, faith and misogynoir.
